My personal circumstances require me to take this week off from posting to my substack. Apologies. But there’s much to be analyzed. Perhaps a little breathing room to see how the dust settles might be beneficial. The Trudeau government’s invoking of emergency, extra-constitutional, extra-judicial powers seems to be drawing as clear a line as could be imagined between the globalist and nationalist factions of the managerial class around the world. So far, the populist uprising that has congealed around the truckers has remained peaceful, which as I’ll argue in future posts is essential to avoid pathocratic capture.
However, clearly a non-violent movement of civil disobedience only has strength to the extent that the government feels restrained in its use of violent force. That restraint probably requires outside pressure. However, how effectively such pressure can be maintained – as time moves on; the profile of the movement diminishes; the U.S. trucker convoy takes shape; the globalist faction leaders of other Western countries avoid calling out the constitutional and policing abuses; and attention is drawn away to other, more dangerous (if likely contrived) threats like the Ukraine – remains very much to be seen. There is talk of initiating a general strike as a follow up to events in Ottawa.
This prospect strikes me as a potentially disastrous miscalculation. As always, the devil lies in the details. I’m still not sure how widespread is the support for this action. If the idea is for people to simply stay home, that seems like a surprisingly ill-conceived plan. It loses the high public profile that drove the momentum in Ottawa, and leaves people isolated and stewing in personal doubts. The main leadership of the original trucker convoy, though, remain in jail. I’ve mentioned repeatedly how impressed I’ve been by their strategy and tactics. Maybe those with the largest impact in that regard are simply unavailable to contribute to a plan moving forward.
In any event, presumably by the next time I post here circumstances will be clearer and we will be able to more effectively analyze them through the theoretical lens of this substack. Meanwhile, I hope everyone is well. We’ll talk again soon.
