The traditional left-right political spectrum often misrepresents the true nature of ideologies. Historical and contemporary classifications may not always accurately reflect the core principles of various ideologies.

We can rectify this mischaracterization by focusing on the collectivist versus individualist dichotomy. Collectivist Ideologies include systems like fascism and communism, rely on centralized control and collective ownership. Individualistic ideologies, like libertarianism, emphasize personal autonomy, minimal government, and decentralized power.

This reclassification highlights that traditional labels may obscure the actual nature of these ideologies, leading to potential misunderstandings of their foundational principles.

The premise of your comment is what I've spent the last year and a half refuting on this Substack. In fact the point of this post, which you were kind enough to like, was aimed at refuting that premise.

But thanks for contributing to the comments. All contributions are appreciated, even the head-scratchers.

Politics is the process of deciding who will make public policy decisions on behalf of a represented population.

Or, more likely, it is plainly constructed language which means exactly what it says: poli = many and tics = blood sucking insects.

Political platforms are a reflection of ideological values held by many.

In contemporary politics, these values are extremely diverse as they are sourced from the life experiences of many given individuals.

The tendency to present simplified ideas is in the interest of clear concise messaging.

In today’s political landscape, the oppression, race and gender ideology of the left demands collective force to steal the productivity of their oppressors and correct perceived wrongs. Many of these wrongs are historically convenient narratives allegedly committed by our long dead ancestors. While, on the right, libertarian ideology demands individual freedom, diminished state control, and an economic system based upon finite supply of currency and a free and open market which offers merit based rewards for useful innovation and creativity.

This simplified view of the political landscape is held by many. The law of attraction, or cognitive neuropsychology, in which humans manifest existential qualia through faith, intent and positivity, operates effectively on both individual & collective levels.

This perspective highlights the contrast between collectivism and individualism as fundamental to understanding modern political dynamics, though it’s important to recognize that real-world politics often involve more nuance and complexity.

I know the arguments for collectivism-individualism as fundamental dichotomy, I just think they're wrong. Again, this Substack and my most recent book have been dedicated to unpacking how and why they're wrong.

If you're interested in understanding why I say that, you might want to start reading this Substack from the link below, and work your way up to the present (it's been a long journey). Though, the book, A Plea for Time in the Phenotype Wars (on Amazon), is a more concisely structured (if more expensive) option.
