From the perspective of middle American populism, RINOs are Schmittian enemies trying to pass themselves off as Schmittian friends.
(Though, of course, until recently, RINOs weren't RINOs, they were accurate manifestations of the GOP. Now that the populists seem to be having success in capturing the party, the managerial class ruler types within the GOP are indeed becoming Republican in name only.)
