Correct: not shocked or surprised. I’m always looking for a better approach to any discussion on the subject matter at hand; I have many in my orbit that have a superficial view of power and politics and it can be challenging to discuss without partisan emotions erupting. I do think it’s high time I dove deeper and got me a copy of The Managerial Class on Trial. Does anyone know if the author would be willing to sign a few copies? I’d happily drive to Vancouver, even! Only a hop skip and a jump from the South Okanagan, after all.

Really? I've actually been pondering a move to the south Okanagan. Though there are some personal obstacles. I have to admit, I feel embarrassed when people want me to sign the book. But of course I would, if you were kind enough to buy it.

Fantastico! Besides Amazon, where can I find your book? Our friends who publish books usually have a stash from the publisher, so I would be happy to compensate you directly if you have any copies still on hand. I have a few people in mind, so probably four copies, plus one for me!

So, here's a funny anecdote: my wife and I drove up to Peachfest in Penticton this past weekend to watch our good friend (and former neighbour in Vancouver) perform with his 40+ years-running blues band. Even though he headlined at Montreaux Jazz Festival at one time, when I ribbed him backstage about being "famous", he - in usual self-deprecating style - categorically denied my accusation. He keeps his feet on the ground, in other words - a likeable quality in an accomplished and talented individual, in my opinion.

You can't beat the weather here most of the year; today is a sunny 32C (AKA 90F - no, it's not freezing, even though it's Canada) on its way to 35C. Academics and intellects are welcome, I'm told!

Unfortunately, only Amazon. If that puts you off buying it, I totally understand. The problem is that for all their problems Amazon has made it incredibly easy to self publish pretty decent quality books. So, it's only there.

June of 2021, after living in the Vancouver area for close to fifteen years, I finally got to the Okanagan for the first time. I was enchanted immediately. Despite getting COVID while I was there. I have some extended travel plans still ahead, but in the next year or two, when I finally settle down. Assuming I do. The Okanagan is a likely candidate.

When the second impeachment trial failed, I made a prediction: there is no way they will allow Trump to become President again.

Beneath the velvet glove, the iron fist is openly revealed.

In your best map is it "Managerial Class" all the way up?

(I purchased your book on the topic and have begun reading it)

Thank you for buying the book. I hope you find value in it.

Yes, certainly managerial class all the way up. However, in many posts here, as well as in the book, I do make the point that the managerial class is not a monolith. It has its own factions, conflicts and contradictions. That's what makes history interesting.

I'm loving the book, thank you for writing it.

It is helping me upgrade my maps.

The gloves are coming off, but I think we're still in the Gracchi brothers stage of civic breakdown: some street violence, and political dirty tricks that violate the spirit of the Republic. Trump, more's the pity, is no Caesar; but it was necessary to try things the nice way first.
